Nintendo has finally released a video clip of the revolutionary Nintendo 3DS! The no-glasses 3D effects are amazing and will totally beat out its competition. The images literally pop right out at you. Enough talking, here is the video trailer of the new Nintendo 3DS:
The announcement made on March 23rd was not what Nintendo intended, sources say. Nintendo demonstrated the Nintendo DSi XL, which is the larger Nintendo DSi. Nintendo announced that Nintendo DSi XL’s price will be $190, then they went on to announce the first-of-its-kind Nintendo DS in 3D without the use of 3D glasses. This is shocker to the people who were planning to buy the Nintendo DSi XL. People will be buying a very-soon-to-be outdated gaming console.
Spite what this might do to the Nintendo DSi XL sales, Nintendo wanted to announce the Nintendo 3DS before the news got leaked. “Apparently, the Japanese press was all over it and talked with suppliers there and Nintendo just wanted to get out ahead by breaking the news to prevent a leak,” says Billy Pigeon, senior analyst with M2 Research. This will definitely still give Nintendo the upper hand in the portable gaming console market.
Nikkei Japan released some new information on the Nintendo 3DS recently. It will include a longer battery life and may include the accelerometer technology that is currently in the Apple iPhone which lets players tilt the screen in gameplay.
According to Asahi, the new Nintendo 3DS will be using technology developed by Sharp. Sharp’s feature, parallax barrier LCD, displays beautiful 3D images without the use of 3D glasses. It is currently being used in a few cell phones and it is said to be unsuitable for large screen TVs.
Here is how a parallax barrier works: It is created by a switching liquid crystal separating the light of an LCD screen into two images. This causes your left and right eyes to see two different images and creating a sense of depth. 2D displays same image to both left and right eyes.
According to Nikkei, they suggest that the new Nintendo 3DS screen will be under 4 inches diagonally which is about the size of the Nintendo DSi. This smaller that the new Nintendo DSi XL/LL which is 4.2 inches diagonally.
With all the secrets behind the new Nintendo 3DS gaming console, how can they make video gamers see a 3D projection without using 3D glasses. Here are a couple of theories on how they can do it:
1. 3D stereogram – This technology is found in 3D stereogram books where you have to focus on a very blurred or mixed image and eventually see a 3d image without the need of 3D glasses. I personally hate these books. They make you have to cross your eyes and make you dizzy. See if you can see the dinosaur in this image.
2. WordFu – WordFu is an iPhone game that uses its accelerometer to make the user see 3D dice. It is pretty cool. Check out the video below:
3.Nintendo DSi’s Camera - A 3D looking game available on Nintendo DSiWare called Rittai Kakushi e Attakoreda (Hidden 3D Image: There It Is!) has very cool 3D effects .This can possible be the way Nintendo 3DS is going to do it. Check out the video:
A press release was just released by the Nintendo Japan website.
On March 23, Nintendo officially announced the Nintendo 3DS
Following the success of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi, the Nintendo 3DS will be released by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2011.
According to Nintendo Japan, the Nintendo 3DS, which is what it is temporarily called, will include 3D effect games that does not require the use of 3D glasses. This is REVOLUTIONARY. This new gaming concept came out of the blue and Nintendo is clearly trying to take advantage of the new increase in the 3D entertainment market. No pictures, videos, or other details were released about the Nintendo 3DS. More details are to be released during the next E3 event which is in June held in Los Angeles.
